- Your presentation should be, to the extent possible, a dispassionate representation of the candidate’s case, without the addition of personal opinions about the quality of the case or a “sales pitch” to the committee.
- You should try to be familiar with the entire dossier and be ready to answer questions about the candidate’s publications, research, teaching, mentoring, funding and letter writers.
- Please be prepared to explain matters (such as the norms of scholarship) specific to your discipline, recalling that you are speaking to colleagues from other disciplines.
- Your presentation should last 7-10 minutes and will be followed by a question period which can last for 20 minutes or more.
- The APT committee room is equipped with a computer, projector and screen that are available for a prepared presentation if desired.
- All of what is stated, or discussed in the APT committee stays within the committee. You must never discuss at any time the nature or content of the APT committee meeting with anyone, including your department’s chair.
