Student Success Policy

The College of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences' (CMNS) expectations and policies are designed to promote success of all CMNS students and to ensure timely progress towards graduation. The main components of the CMNS student success policy are:

  1. Students, in consultation with their departmental advisors, are required to develop an individual plan for timely completion of their major(s) and with their department advisors to revise their plans in a timely manner as circumstances change. Students are responsible to begin each semester with a current reviewed plan. To design and submit your individual plan to your advisor, logon to Graphic Advisor "My Plan".

  2. Under regular circumstances students are expected to complete their major(s) within four years. Each academic year students in CMNS are expected to successfully complete four courses of 3 credits or more required specifically for their major(s), and satisfy three CORE requirements (outside of mathematics and sciences, Professional Writing and Advanced Studies) until requirements are satisfied.

  3. Students will have their progress reviewed by the Dean if: (i) with CORE not fulfilled they do not complete three courses required specifically for their major(s) with a grade of "C" or better and pass at least two CORE requirements (outside of mathematics and the sciences) in the previous academic year, or (ii) with CORE fulfilled they do not complete four courses required specifically for their major(s) with a grade of "C" or better in the previous academic year. These students will be required to present for approval a plan for timely completion of all remaining degree requirements.

  4. Students whose progress is reviewed by the Dean are not eligible to continue in CMNS without a current approved plan.

4-Year Plan Templates

The following links provide students with templates that can be used in developing their own 4-year plans. Students are responsible for developing these plans and saving them online at Graphic Advisor before meeting with an advisor for registration who will review the individual plan. Students who submit acceptable plans will be cleared for registration; students who are not making progress in their major may possibly be asked to submit an alternative plan to the Dean's Undergraduate Education Office for approval. Student may also click on the department's title for additional information concerning major plans for a student's specific area of study.
